This year Paragon’s California, Illinois and Texas offices each hosted a toy drive to benefit less fortunate children during the holiday season. The Illinois and Texas toy drives both benefited U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

The California drive benefited Spark of Love, a local charity in which firefighters from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside,

Paragon’s Ervin Walker and Cris Santiago in Warrenville, IL

San Bernardino and Ventura counties along with Los Angeles City firefighters will collect the gifts and distribute them to under-served children in local communities. As evidenced in our photos, each office filled their donation boxes and then some.

Because of the generosity of Paragon’s employees, many children across the United States will have a wonderful holiday!

Paragon Relocation, a leading provider of global relocation management services, underscored the company’s commitment to its core value of community involvement by participating in a fundraiser to support the North Texas Food Bank. Paragon’s Coppell office recently made a contribution to the food bank of more than 120 pounds of food along with a monetary donation.

“It is important to show how much we value and support the communities in which we live and work, especially at this time of year. Paragon is thrilled to be able to donate to such a worthy cause,” said Craig Selders, President of Paragon Relocation.

The North Texas Food Bank was established in 1982 to address the critical issue of hunger in the North Texas area by securing donations of wholesome foods and grocery products for distribution through a network of charitable organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in 13 North Texas Counties, including Dallas, Denton, Collin, Fannin, Rockwall, Hunt, Grayson, Kaufman, Ellis, Navarro, Lamar, Delta and Hopkins.

Paragon Relocation, a leading provider of global relocation management services, underscored the company’s commitment to its core value of community involvement by participating in a fundraiser to support the North Texas Food Bank. Paragon’s Coppell office recently made a contribution to the Food 4 Kids program to provide more than 200 backpacks of food to children in the North Texas area.

“Paragon employees are dedicated to improving the lives of those in the communities in which we live and work. Our Coppell office is extremely engaged in supporting local charities and we are always proud of the initiative and generosity they show,” said Craig Selders, President of Paragon Relocation.

The Food 4 Kids program helps to eliminate hunger among children by providing backpacks full of nonperishable, kid-friendly, nutritious food to chronically hungry children on Friday afternoons to last throughout the weekend. Each backpack contains four meals. The program currently serves over 325 schools in 32 schools districts across Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Hunt, Rockwall, and Kaufman counties. Currently, over 8,000 children receive a backpack each week.

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day? There are many opportunities to make the earth a better place to live for all of us. At Paragon Relocation, a international relocation company, we have celebrated Earth Day through a variety of activities including  turning all our blog links green, providing tips on How to Go Green at Work and participating in the Clean Coppell initiative by picking up trash in one of our local communities.  What have you done to protect or preserve the planet this week?

Paragon Relocation’s CEO, Joseph Morabito, underscored Paragon’s commitment to being an eco-friendly business by stating :

“As we consider future expansion and growth, we embrace and seek out opportunities to enhance our commitment to eco-friendly business practices and sustainability.  In a recent example, our newest office location in Texas features many energy efficient features and was built to conform to the most up-to-date eco-friendly building codes.  At Paragon, we are committed to conservation and environmental awareness in all of business dealings.”

Here are some easy ways for you to celebrate Earth Day today in your community:

• Plant a tree in your yard.
• Participate in your city’s planned Earth Day events.
• Take a green pledge on EarthDay.org – you can take a pledge to take shorter showers, walk instead of taking the car, or set up a recycling station among many other easy opportunities to help the planet.
• Go on a Hike.
• Visit a National Park in your Country.
• Donate lightly used clothing and furniture to a local thrift store so that they can be reused by others.

Paragon Relocation, a leading provider of global relocation management services, underscored the company’s commitment to its core value of community involvement through a number of fundraising initiatives at Paragon offices around the globe to benefit Japanese tsunami relief efforts. These fundraising activities included a “Pie-in-the-Face” contest, bake sales and selling homemade recipe books. Employees in Paragon’s Dublin, Ireland office won the interoffice contest by raising more than $50 per employee.

Through these activities, employees raised over $3,500. Coupled with a corporate donation through Paragon’s employee donation matching program, in total Paragon donated $7,029.75 in financial contributions to several organizations across the globe involved in relief efforts, including the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

“Paragon employees have always stepped up to help others when the need was there. Once again I am impressed by their level of commitment to help our friends in Japan cope with their current crisis,” said Joseph Morabito, CEO of Paragon.

Employees from Paragon Relocation and GenEquity Mortgage recently participated in the Clean Coppell initiative in honor of Earth Day. By adopting a stretch of road and picking up trash, employees were able to keep their city looking beautiful. In all, the Paragon team picked up 10 bags of trash. Paragon’s offices have picked various activities to show their commitment to “being green.”

Therefore, in honor of Earth Day, which is this Friday (April 22nd), the Paragon Relocation blog will focus on green and eco-friendly related posts this week, including green office tips, and an update on Paragon employees volunteering to help the planet in their local community. In an effort to encourage volunteerism and underscore one of the company’s core values, Paragon’s President, Joseph Morabito, established a Community Service Award for Paragon employees. Through the Paragon Foundation, the first annual Community Service Award winner was announced this month. The 2010 winner is Darlene Bustamante, Facilities Coordinator, based in Paragon’s Rancho Santa Margarita, California office. Darlene is active with several groups that have local, national and even international significance.

First, Darlene works to support Just Do Good – The Compton Initiative. This group involves a community outreach program in Compton, California, a city known for violent crime as a result of gang activity. “Rebuilding Compton” has been happening one house at a time for the last four years. Darlene has been working with others on home renovations in Compton. Darlene also recruited other Paragon employees to help with this worthwhile project.

In addition, Darlene has been active with Project Prayer Flag for the past six years sending care packages to U.S. Servicemen in six troops on duty in the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. Darlene also works at Camp Pendleton serving lunch to service men and their families during memorial services for soldiers lost in battle.

Darlene is also active in supporting All’s Well Homes, an organization that houses men and women who have had tragic upbringings. These people are often victims of abuse that are living on the streets due to addictions and other personal problems. Darlene has been using her skills to provide young women with training and counseling in computer skills, communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Darlene also assists by serving meals and providing food and clothing to those in need.

Next, Darlene organized a blood drive for the American Red Cross at our corporate headquarters resulting in a donation of 20 units of blood that will help save at least 60 lives. Finally, Darlene is constantly collecting canned goods, other foods and blankets for various charities in Orange County to help the less fortunate. As a result of all of her selfless volunteer work, Darlene has been selected as our 2010 Community Service Award winner. As a part of this award, Darlene will receive $500.

• Carol Nichols for her work with Habitat for Humanity, Youth Front, Franklin Community Center and missionary work in China
• Elaine Martin for her work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters
• Tom True for his work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters
• Pratibha Godbole for her work with her local church
• Tracy Wyttenberg for her work with Season’s Hospice
• Teresa Mahlberg for her work with DAWG (Dedicated Animal Welfare Group)
